Lucknow: BJP was contemplating launching proceedings under the anti-defection law against its 12 MLAs, whose names found mention in the BSP's first list of probable candidates in the next Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.
State BJP chief Kesri Nath Tripathi told reporters today that the party had already suspended seven of these MLAs earlier for cross voting in the recently-concluded Rajya Sabha bienial polls in the state.
The party was contemplating action against these MLAs under the anti-defection act, he said.
Several party MLAs' names appeared in the BSP list which was released recently.
At least two MLAs Ram Prakash Tripathi and Aridaman Singh, whose names also found mention in the list, had later claimed that their names had been wrongly mentioned.
