Ganguly e-mail reveals rift with Dalmiya

July 21, 2006 (kolkatta)

Former BCCI President Jamohan Dalmiya has filed his nomination to stand for election for the post of the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal.

But his opponent the Police Commissioner of Kolkata Prasun Mukharjee has got an unexpected boost ahead of the elections on July 30.

Prasun Mukherjee has now told the press that he has received an e-mail from former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly supporting his candidature.

The e-mail confirms what has long been speculated, that Ganguly has indeed had a falling out with his so-called mentor Jagmohan Dalmiya.

Ganguly's brother Snehashsih has also made it quite clear that several cricketers in Bengal have been victimised by Dalmiya who has been the President of the CAB for 14 years.

Nevertheless, there are several suspicious circumstances surrounding the e-mail, for instance the address that it was sent to, the grammar and spelling errors in the e-email and the fact that it has not been signed.

In any case, Jagmohan Dalmiya clearly isn't worried by the fact that he's probably on a sinking ship that is being deserted by all and sundry.

Despite being urged not to stand for the CAB elections this year by the West Bengal Chief Minister, Dalmiya has gone ahead and filed his nomination.
