Chandigarh:Shiromani Akali Dal chief Parkash Singh Badal is all set to be sworn-in as chief minister for the fourth term.
But BJP's surprise gains in Punjab have encouraged its leaders to expect an equal share in the cabinet and also the number two slot in the Punjab government.
The party is now looking for the right candidate for the post of Deputy CM.
"According to the results BJP should get equal share in the government, we only got 20 per cent seats but we did better. Now power sharing should be according to that only," said Sunil Bitta, District General Secretary, BJP.
"So far we have spoken about power sharing with the BJP. The Governor will invite and then there will be the swearing in," added Parkash Singh Badal, Chief, Shiromani Akali Dal.
Senior BJP leaders see this as the resurgence of the party in Punjab, a fact that even Congress leaders acknowledge.
"In reality we have beaten the Akalis. It is the urban areas that cost us," said Captain Amrinder Singh, outgoing chief minister, Punjab.
As Badal is sworn-in as Chief Minister of Punjab, there are issues, which could still cause trouble between the two allies like portfolios and number of cabinet berths.
