Nursery begins at 3 for Delhi kids

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday ruled that three years and above is the right age for children to seek admission in nursery classes.

The Delhi government wanted four years to be set as the right age, but the High Court ruling will set a new rule for schools which till now had been following a law set in 1999.

The court has ordered schools in Delhi to the Ganguly Committee’s 100-point criteria for nursery admissions but institutions allege the recommendations take away their autonomy.

The schools contended that the High Court did not pay proper attention to the objections raised by them regarding the recommendation/100-point scale for selection of children for admission to nursery.
